The Embroidery / Reading Between the Panels

The mascot has been embroidered directly into the panel, not sewn on as a patch, so there's no badge edge to curl and nothing standing stiffly off the front of your head. Satin stitch for the chair leather and the book he is reading, fill stitch for the mascot himself, and a fine outline so the glasses stay legible at arm's length — he takes his eyewear seriously.

Backed with a soft cutaway rather than a tearaway, which is why the crest holds its shape wash after wash instead of puckering — the mascot has never once looked surprised.

Will it fit me?

One size, brass strap, 54 to 61 cm around the head just above the ears. Wider than that and the fit goes soft at the crown. Narrower and it slides off the moment you nod at a professor you don't recognize.

Does the embroidery survive washing?

Hand wash cold, reshape while damp, and it'll outlive most of your actual degrees. Machine drying will shorten that considerably.

Is the crown structured?

No buckram, no foam, no ambition. It sits low, follows your head, and folds into a coat pocket without complaint.

Which edition should I choose?

Navy if you'd like it to quietly go with everything you own. Green if you'd like someone to ask about the crest at a party you weren't going to explain yourself at anyway.
